Hungry Beach
Hungry Beach is an amazing place to spend the day with its small but spacious beach and the crystal clear water. The beach is only accessible via boat and is a nice stop for lunch etc because of its privacy. The beach has a creak running from the ocean to the national park and it quite a nice place to explore, there are a few big rocks but it is quite easy. Towards the southern end of the beach there are a few trees that hang over the beach that provide some shade during the hot hours of the day. The water depth is quite shallow for about 30 meters until it gets deep and the depth drops to 3-4 meters but it is still in the bay. You can also get a sea plane to drop you off for lunch and pick you up afterwards which is a nice thing for couples to do because it is very private.
Personally I think the beach is a great place to stop for lunch after a morning of water sports or fishing. I have stopped off at this beach so many times and every time I have been happy because 80% of the time we are the only ones there. One time I spotted a little concrete building on the hill side and I found a path up to it and it was the strangest thing ever, it was still intact but it was empty and had been deserted and there was multiple spray paints across the walls. That sort of thing is a really fun thing to explore because you don't know the history behind it and what is used for. In my opinion this is a very beautiful and secluded place to spend the day and you will not be disappointed.

The Basin Camp Gound
The basin campsite is a public campsite situated in it's own little corner of Pitwater. It can be accessed by ferry or a walk from west head road. The campsite has cooking and showering facilities but be sure to check fire restrictions before cooking on an open fire. The surrounding bush is teaming with life from kangaroos to goannas and anything in between. Fishing is also a good pastime as the jetty attracts a lot of sea life so you may want to pack your rod just incase. Booking is essential. From personal experience this place has never ceased to amaze me that this close to the city you can feel so far away from everything. No matter what you seek a spot of fishing, yabby pumping or a nice place to spend the weekend come down to The Basin and pitch a tent as it will not disappoint.
